Poundsgate Chapel is a well-known landmark for those crossing Dartmoor from Ashburton to Princetown or Tavistock.  It was built as a place of worship in 1833 and has been in regular use ever since.  Today services are regularly held on the first Sunday of the month at 3 p.m. and occasionally at other times.  As well as serving the local moorland community, it attracts visitors from across southeast Devon, as well as many other parts of the British Isles and occasionally from overseas. There are typically 12 – 20 in the congregation.
Plans are being made for refurbishment, which would include laying of on of water and drainage services to provide a kitchen and toilet, for which permission has been granted.
