We reach out through Home and World Missions, and fundraise effectively with Coffee Mornings, Easter and Christmas ‘specials’, Harvest Lunch, and at least two Cream Tea events. There is a good weekly fellowship hour, with attendance as high as 16. This is run on the basis of ‘whosoever can, will’, and the spirit of family, love and care is strong. Because of the high average age, Keyberry does not subscribe to too many evening meetings or functions. We have had the services of a concert organist, Mark Ireland, whose four-manual Allen Theatre Organ is installed in the church but he has moved away, returning with visiting organists give regular concerts at Keyberry, and at least four times a year Mark undertakes Sankey or Songs of Praise Evenings for the Church and for Mission. Keyberry’s buildings, main church and attached portakabin schoolroom, are in a reasonable state of decoration and repair. There is the benefit of a modern kitchen and unisex toilets to enable functions and fund raising activities. There is also a car park which can hold up to 18 cars, which enables Keyberry to be run as a Resource Centre for Circuit Youth Leaders. From a Circuit point of view Keyberry is a low maintenance church, in that the congregation is pastorally very effective, and they are truly grateful for whatever worship input is given them in the way of ordained ministry or lay preachers. There is close contact and mutual support between Keyberry and the other churches in the Circuit. Keyberry is a caring, welcoming church, whose congregation is prepared to work together, and is surprisingly ‘young at heart’.
