Thriving Junior Church

Twice weekly Youth Club open to the whole village

The Chapel was opened for worship in 1866 and for a hundred years was the village school until a new school was built in the early seventies.

A great deal of work has been carried out on the church premises and there are ambitious plans to refurbish the schoolrooms.

The congregation is a lively mixed age one with a membership of about 70 and a Junior Church of over 30. Many members have lived in the village all their lives whilst others are relatively new to the area, coming from a variety of Christian traditions and enjoying the diversity this brings to the life and worship of the church. There is an active worship group providing an input to the services.

The membership enjoys doing things together. There is an annual church weekend and an annual church outing, shared lunches, monthly breakfasts and the occasional barbeque. They enjoy learning and praying together in house groups, and are keen to reach out through Alpha Courses and children’s’ holiday clubs.

The bi-weekly Youth Club is open to the whole village and currently has a regular attendance of fifty.

Regular united services are held with the other churches in Ipplepen, Torbryan and Denbury, and share in other activities, both serious and social.
